Introduction

On the 1st of June 1943, the 2nd RAF Tactical Air Force was created with the mission to “Prepare the way to the Invasion of Mainland Europe”. During the command's existence, several special aircraft performed several special missions. Squadrons within the force would begin to use the elements of daylight and night to perform their special missions.

Units of the RAF No. 2 Group took off under the cover of early morning darkness to maximize the element of surprise on October 3, 1943, on their first mission in DeHavilland Mosquitos. The attackers met with light resistance over the target area.

The 2nd TAF continued to fly and fight to their original mission attacking key targets up to and after D-DAY.

In 1943 JG2 and JG26 began their fight to the end against the 8th USAAF. Most if not all of their resources began to focus on repelling daylight bombing missions. The Luftwaffe needed to maintain a presence in Western Europe against the twilight attacks of the 2nd TAF and their continuous incursion into France, Norway, and the Low Countries. Enter the Luftwaffe Nachtjagdgeschwader to face off against these incursions.

These units fought relentlessly against the 2nd TAF as well as RAF Bomber Command to defend German positions in Western Europe.

Dates and Times

Players should register for this Aces High scenario to play in the event. This will allow the participant to receive mission orders. Walk-ons are allowed to show up in the Special Events II Arena on game day to see if there are any open positions to be filled. This scenario will be a four-frame event (four battles).

 The event will be hosted in Special Events Arena (SEA) II.
