Finland

Finland 1944

4 June 1944

After a massive buildup of Soviet forces north of Leningrad, the Soviets began a massive artillery barrage against troop positions in Finland which lasted two days.  The bombardment was so intense the sound of the shells was reported hundreds of miles away while the Finish soldiers on the ground were completely unprepared for the onslaught.  Somehow the army managed an orderly withdrawal from the front and began fighting a defensive battle or Torjuntataistelut.

While the battle raged on the ground, the FiAF was joined by their Luftwaffe allies in the air and began a sustained aerial assault to stop the advancing Soviets with attacks on troop concentrations, artillery, tanks, rail roads and bridges.  To provide compatible targets for this event, towns at bomber target locations from earlier periods in the war will be substituted.

Setup
Terrain: finrus
Fuelburn: 1 (I recommend fuel conservation in two rides)
Time at T+0: 1030 hours
Ground guns: 0.4
Base warning: ~8 miles
Radar: off, set to 8 miles

Field changes:
Frame 1: A46 and A47 are Finish bases
Frame 2: A46 and A47 are Sovet bases

Design notes:
The original design had the Yak9T but our crazy Fins wanted the Ruskies to have Yak9Us so they'd have more of a challenge. If the Karelia terrain is rebuilt, bridges could be hardended and used as targets instead of the Towns.
